LeBron James comments on status of ‘Space Jam 2’

For years now, LeBron James has been linked to a sequel to ‘Space Jam’. Director Justin Lin was attached to the project a few months back, but not much else has come up and James’ company, SpringHill Entertainment, has a deal with Warner Bros.

Now, LeBron has commented on the project. In an interview with Business Insider, James said that he would ‘love’ to make, confirmed that there have been talks about it, but that he doesn’t want to rush it.

Would love to, would love to. And there have been a lot of talks about it, but, obviously, I have a great partnership with Warner Bros., and they definitely were the ones who brought "Space Jam 1," which was incredible. Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes — they did an unbelievable thing not only for my childhood, but for so many kids and so many people that followed the franchise.

So, obviously, we want to make sure that it's right. We don't want to rush it. We don't want to do something that's not authentic to the "Space Jam" brand. So, hopefully, we can get it right. But right now, where it stands, the "Space Jam" franchise is in a great place.

James’ comments certainly make it seem like the movie is going to happen at some point. It doesn’t seem as if it’s going to happen in the immediate future - especially since filming it would take some time and the season is drawing closer.

At this point, it seems as if James could film the move next summer and have it come out sometime in 2018. Plus, LeBron - as he tends to do - seems to want to do it correctly and avoid making something that doesn’t make the type of impact the first one does.
