One of the tabloids claims Tom Cruise is trying to recruit his estranged 13-year-old daughter, Suri, for Scientology. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to the Globe, the movie star is determined to bring his teenage daughter into the church, despite the girl’s mom, Katie Holmes, trying to protect her from the controversial religion. A supposed source tells the magazine that Cruise recently reconnected with Suri for the first time in several years and has been “meddling with her mind.”
“Suri hasn’t been raised as a Scientologist, but now that Tom is communicating with her again, his aim will be to steer her back to the church,” adds the alleged insider. “He’s no doubt been putting Scientology thoughts in her head in the hopes that it will sink in.”
The questionable tipster goes on to say that Cruise and other Scientology officials believe his daughter “is a true princess and belongs with them.” The so-called “source” further contends that Holmes is terrified of her ex-husband taking their daughter away, but he’s “determined to speed things up.” The seemingly phony insider concludes, “He believes Suri will want to explore the inner reaches of the religion once he frees her from her mother’s apron strings.”
The tabloid’s phony report is based on claims from an anonymous and possibly fictitious “source,” but Holmes’ own spokesperson is going on the record to dismiss it. Despite what the outlet’s untraceable “insider” claims, a rep for the actress tells Gossip Cop that Suri hasn’t reunited with her father and there have been no attempts to recruit her for Scientology.
It’s worth noting, the actor’s involvement in the religion has been the basis for countless false tabloid reports. Last year, Gossip Cop called out the Globe’s sister publication, Star, for wrongly reporting that Cruise was quitting Scientology to reunite with his daughter. That bogus premise, which is contradictory to this latest one, never panned out.
Just last week, the Globe’s other sister publication, Life & Style, made up a story about Cruise ignoring Suri’s plea for a reunion. Although the young girl never reached out to her father, it goes to show how the magazine and its related outlets can’t keep their stories straight. Last August, the National Enquirer concocted a phony article claiming Cruise was trying to take Suri back from Holmes, who has full custody of the young girl. The gossip media simply has no insight into the movie star’s estrangement from his daughter.
