Sarah Silverman has defended her decision to prioritize her career over having children, explaining how she chose to live her “fullest life” without the responsibilities of motherhood.

The 46-year-old comedian posted a series of tweets about focusing on her work on Monday.

“As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter,” the Masters of Sex star tweeted. “Men don't have to do that. I'd so love to be a fun dad, coming home from the road & being my best fun dad self."

"So this is just a lil f--k all y'all bc u can't be a woman w/out sacrifice & that's the fact jack," Silverman added. "And I [love] my comedian brothers that acknowledge this truth. They're my family & for a lot of us women comic sisters, our only family."

In January, the actress opened up about the pressure women face to start a family -- sometimes from people they aren't even close to.

“I got two emails within the span of a week, two weeks ago, from people in my life, who I don't necessarily know really well, who just out of nowhere said, ‘You should really have kids’ and, ‘I've been thinking about you,’” she told Marc Maron on his podcast, WTF. “It's such an odd thing to put on someone.”

“It's a sadness for me because I love kids,” she continued. “But I love my life more. You can't have it all; you really can't.”
