The actor says he feels fine and currently has no symptoms, but has been isolated since he found out that he may have been exposed to the virus. The actor took to Twitter to announce that he tested positive for the virus on Friday, after coming into contact with someone who had it. The Luther star has been in isolation since finding out he was exposed to the coronavirus.

"This morning I tested positive for Covid 19," the 47-year-old star tweeted.

"I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.  Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing. No panic."

In a video, also featuring his wife Sabrina Dhowre, he said they are both "doing ok" and that she has not been tested.

"This is serious," he said. "Now is the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands."

Elba told fans to remain "really vigilant".

He added: "Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now. If you're feeling ill, or you feel like you should be tested, or if you've been exposed, do something about it."
