'Game of Thrones': Jon Snow Learns the Truth in the Season 8 Premiere

Tormund Is Alive -- But the Boy Is Not

6:53 PM: Remember that boy from the beginning of the episode? Well, his name is Lord Umber and he's now dead.
Tormund and Beric find our little friend turned into a wight by the Night King, nailed to a wall as a message to our friends trying to fight him.

And Now Jon Must Learn the Truth Too

6:47 PM: Sam spills the beans.

"Your mother was Lyanna Stark. And your father, your real father, was Rhaegar Targaryen. You've never been a bastard. You're Aegon Targaryen, true heir to the Iron Throne," he tells Jon. "I'm sorry, I know it's a lot to take in."

"My father was the most honorable man I ever met. You're saying he lied to me all my life!" Jon exclaims.

"Your father, Ned Stark, promised your mother he'd always protect you... you're the true king," Sam replies. "You gave up your crown to save your people. Would she do the same?"

Sam Learns the Truth

6:44 PM: Sam's back with the gang again, but sharing his knowledge about Jon's true identity is going to have to wait a bit.
After joking with Dany that he's going to need a few pardons for the books he took from the Citadel and the sword he took from his family, she reveals that she actually killed them for refusing the bend the knee.

Overcome by emotion, he walks out to find Bran, who insists it's time to tell Jon the truth about his family lineage. "It's time."

Sansa Asks the Hard Questions

6:43 PM: Sansa confronts Jon over Dany shaking things up.
"She'll be a good queen, for all of us!" he yells. "She's not her father."

"No, she's much prettier," Sansa replies. "Did you bend the knee to save the North, or because you love her?"

Arya Gets Some Love?

6:40 PM: There's more reunions in store for Arya -- and maybe a love interest -- as she meets up with the Hound and Gendry.
"You're a cold little b**ch aren't you? Guess that's why you're still alive," the Hound hisses, before leaving her alone with Gendry.

"You look... good," Gendry tells Arya, as they kind-of flirt through her request for him to make her a Valeryian steel sword.

A Dragon Date
6:35 PM: Dany and Jon grow their relationship with a dragon-riding date across the North.
"I don't know how to ride a dragon!" Jon says. "What if he doesn't want me to?"

"Then I've enjoyed your company, Jon Snow," Dany teases, before they hop on the creatures' backs.

The pair ends up at a waterfall, where they make out away from peering eyes -- except those of the dragons. "Don't be afraid," Dany says.

Proposing a Proposal That Probably Shouldn't Happen

6:33 PM: Ser Davos Seaworth clearly doesn't know about Dany and Jon's familial ties, because he's suggesting they get engaged.
"A proposal is what I'm proposing," he tells Tyrion, as they watch Dany and Jon get closer.

Theon's Back in the Game

6:30 PM: Theon finally rescues Yara, who decides to head back to the Iron Islands.
"We can take our home back. Daenerys will need somewhere to retreat.. somewhere the dead can't go," she reasons, though it's clear Theon wants to head back to the action in Winterfell.

"What is dead may never die," Yara says, bidding farewell to her brother. "But kill the bastards anyway."

"That F**king Family"

6:26 PM: Ser Bronn of the Blackwater can't stay out of the action, with Cersei's hand revealing that he's needed to do her bidding.
"So she wants to murder someone, but she can't send her soldiers?" Bronn asks, guessing her plans are about Dany -- but Cersei's hand instead teases it's her brothers who are in need of a bit of punishment if they survive their "adventures" in the North.

"That f**king family," Bronn exclaims.

Euron's Got Some Plans

6:21 PM: Euron still has Yara held captive, and he's not above revealing his plans with her. "I'm going to f**k the queen," he shares, before going to meet Cersei.
His attempt to bed her, however, doesn't come that easy.

"You want a whore, buy one. You want a queen, earn her," Cersei says -- though she ends up inviting him to her chamber.

Arya and Jon are finally back together, and it's just as sweet as we imagined.

Tyrion and Sansa Come Face to Face

6:17 PM: Sansa and Tyrion hadn't seen each other since she escaped from Joffrey's wedding -- and it looks like they also have a lot to discuss.
"I used to think you were the cleverest man alive," Sansa tells Tyrion and walks away.

Getting Chilly Up in Here

6:14 PM: Something tells us Sansa and Dany aren't going to get along so well.
Sansa understandably brings up the problem of feeding the new expanded army, which includes Dothraki soldiers and two dragons. "What do dragons eat, anyway?" Sansa asks.

"Whatever they want," Dany coldly replies.

A Stark Reunion -- and an Important Reminder

6:11 PM: After pretty much the entire season apart, Jon and Bran come face to face. "You're a man!" Jon says, hugging his brother (now cousin?).
"Almost," Bran replies.

Arya, meanwhile, is nowhere to be seen during Jon's big arrival with Dany -- who gets a quick introduction to the Starks.

"Winterfell is yours," Sansa tells the Mother of Dragons.

"The Night King has your dragon, he's one of them now," Bran interrupts, getting straight to the point. "The wall has fallen, the dead march south."

The Dragons Are Here!

6:10 PM: "I warned you, Notherners don't much trust outsiders," Jon tells Dany -- but she's not scared, and neither are her dragons, who make quite the entrance.

A Winterfell Homecoming

6:06 PM: The series begins with a little boy running through a legion of soldiers in the North and climbing up a tree. (Has he learned nothing from Bran Stark? Please no more children climbing up things on this series!)
From his view, however, we see Dany and Jon riding in to Winterfell side-by-side -- and the rest of the crew, including Varys and Tyrion, behind them.
