Cajocon, a 24-year-old rookie cop assigned the Regional Mobile Force Batallion of Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), was crowned by Ganda Pulis 2017 P01 Arla Ray Paciencia during the Gala Night coronation held on April 23 at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Cajocon’s runner-ups were PO2 May Shell J Oro of PRO 10 Northern Mindanao named Ms. PNP Maka-Diyos 2018 (God-fearing); PO1 PNP Elymor Chrysma V. Caberto of PROCOR: Cordillera Region named Ms. PNP Makabayan 2018 (nationalist); PO1 Cris T. Pastores of PRO ARMM as Ms. PNP Makatao 2018 (humane) and PO1 Ann Jerica Buenafe of PRO 3: Central Luzon named Ms. PNP Makakalikasan 2018 (environmentalist).

Cajocon was named Best in Evening Gown and Best in Ethnic Attire and took home the special awards as Miss MX3, Miss Resorts Wear, Miss Max Cosmetics and Miss Above Aesthetics. PO1 Pastores also won as Miss Photogenic and Best in Advocacy. PO2 Ria Angelley P. Bero of PRO 4B MIMAROPA won Best in Talent while PO1 Gearlyn Paga of PRO 4A: Calabarzon was voted Miss Congeniality.

Ms. PNP Ganda Pulis 2018, now on its 2nd year, is a presentation of the PNP Police Community Relations Group (PCRG), headed by Chief Superintendent Rhodel O. Sermonia, and part of the annual celebration of 2018 National Women’s Month with this year’s theme “We Make Change for Women.”

The annual search aims to give recognition to the important role of female police officers in the promotion of police-community relations. Cajocon will act as new Goodwill Ambassadress of the PNP’s Recovery and Wellness Program entitled “Community–based Rehabilitation Program,” promotion of women’s and children’s rights and tourism thru TOPCOPs, anti-drugs campaign and other programs to be implemented by PNP Chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, who delivered his inspirational message and emphasized that the 2nd Ms. PNP #GandaPulis 2018 will serve as an inspiration to all women in empowering the community through advocacy and to make good on their social responsibility with pride and honor.

Albayalde also extended his warm gratitude, and congratulated the organizers and the other institutions that supported this remarkable event. He likewise congratulated the Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) led by its Director, Police Chief Superintendent Rhodel Orden Sermonia and PEPPS and all those who have contributed to the success of the event. The PNP’s collective efforts, especially the PCRG personnel who worked as one big family, and other PNP units who exerted diligent efforts in the preparations for the activity, were applauded by the newly installed Chief PNP.

The Ganda Pulis 2018 candidates from 16 police regional offices, five National Capital Region districts and five national support units, participated in the pre-Gala Night PCRG-organized community outreach activities that included the visit to Bahay Pagbabago in Bataan and Tarlac for the distribution of livelihood tools to former drug dependents and Pulis Natin Caravan and outreach programs in Baguio City and La Union.

The members of the board of judges included the prime mover of Miss Universe 2016 Gov. Chavit Singson, actor Philip Salvador, Carousel Productions Inc. Vice President Lorraine Schuck, Philippine Star entertainment-columnist/editor Ricky Lo, designer Edwin Uy, pageant writer Robert Requintina, Man of the World 2017 Mostafa Galal Elezali, Presidential Security Aide-de-Camp PSInsp Sofia Loren Deliu-Abdurajak, Businessman Edmun Las, fitness and wellness coach Jum Saret and Toni Dimaguila, and actress-politician Lani Mercado.
