Study in Japan! 2018 Japanese Government Scholarship: Teacher Training and Japanese Studies Open for Applications

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan is now accepting applications for the Teacher Training and Japanese Studies categories of the 2018 Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship Program.

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan is now accepting applications for the Teacher Training and Japanese Studies categories of the 2018 Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship Program.

The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to:

  • Filipino teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at Japanese Universities under the Teacher Training category; and to
  • Filipino undergraduates who wish to pursue Japanese Studies in Japan for one year as part of their degree under the Japanese Studies category.

Interested individuals who meet the following qualifications are eligible to apply:

•Teacher in Elementary/Secondary Level, or an academic staff at a teacher training institution

 

• 5 years teaching experience

 

• Good academic standing

(Inclusive of 0.5 years of Japanese Language training)

Japanese Studies

 

• Must be a current Japanese Studies or Japanese Language Major

 

• Good knowledge of the Japanese Language

 

• Good academic standing

 

 

 

Born or after April 2, 1988 or 
April 1, 2000

 

 

 

 

1 year

Available Fields of Study include:

  • Teacher Training: Educational Administration, Educational Methods, Specialized Subject Research, Observational Tours and Practice
  • Japanese Studies:

(a) A course focusing on Japan and Japan culture with supplementary Japanese language proficiency study

(b) A course focusing on Japanese language proficiency with supplementary study on Japan and Japanese culture

Application forms and further information on prerequisites are available at the JICC Library or may be viewed and downloaded from the Embassy Website: (http://www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp/culture/scholarship/index.htm).

The deadline for submission of applications is on February 2, 2018 (Friday) at the JICC Library. ONLY hard copies, preferably printed on A4 size paper, and mailed through courier or hand-delivered to the Embassy will be accepted.

The application process consists of a document screening, written exams, and an interview.

Free scholarship consultations are offered at the JICC Library on selected Fridays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Walk-in visitors are welcome to join these consultations. Please be advised that visitors are required to present a valid ID to enter the library.
