Two-year-old Harvey Caius Gonzales from San Pedro City, Laguna, turns very blue when he cries or has a bowel movement. This is called a “tet spell” when babies affected with Tetralogy of Fallot experience difficulty breathing, become limp, and sometimes occasionally lose consciousness.

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart defect. At birth, these babies’ skin appear bluish. Only an open heart surgery can treat this condition. The procedure involves increasing the size of the pulmonary valve and pulmonary arteries and repairing the ventricular septal defect.

Harvey is scheduled for an open heart surgery on September 21 at the Philippine Heart Center. His parents are seeking for financial help for the operation and medicines after the surgery. His father Nestor works as a machine operator in a factory and his mother Jane attends to Harvey fulltime.

May God touch your hearts in helping this child fight for his life.
