Mayweather-McGregor: Demi Lovato sings national anthem, Floyd Mayweather comes to the ring in a ski mask

As the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor finally neared, things got started with the singing of both the Irish and U.S. national anthems. Kicking things off was Dublin-born singer Imelda May, who belted out a respectable edition of “Amhran na bhFiann.”

As the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor finally neared, things got started with the singing of both the Irish and U.S. national anthems. Kicking things off was Dublin-born singer Imelda May, who belted out a respectable edition of “Amhran na bhFiann.”

Up next, came pop star Demi Lovato, who dressed in a white low-cut dress, did much better than Jamie Foxx did in 2015 when he sang the “Star Spangled Banner” before Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao in 2015. At least the Internet thought so.

Stealing the show, however, was Mayweather’s face, or rather what the undefeated boxer wore on his face — a full ski mask. Unsurprisingly, this brought out a slew of jokes on social media, the most popular of which played had to do with Mayweather’s tax troubles and the lopsided matchup between the now 50-0 boxer and one with no professional experience.

And if you thought paying $100 for a pay-per-view meant you could escape ads,  think again. Also making an appearance on the red carpet was the Sasquatch mascot of jerky brand Jack Link’s. He was shown directly after Cheadle, Macy, Pharoah and Willis.

“If this isn’t the cast of a heist movie tomorrow, Hollywood has failed us all,” Esquire’s Luke O’Neil commented on Twitter.

Showing up in time for the penultimate fight between Gervonta Davis and Francisco Fronseca were Diddy, Paul Pierce, Ray Lewis, Mike Tyson, LeBron James, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Charlize Theron and Jamie Foxx and Olivia Munn, who arrived on the red carpet together, which immediately spurred romantic rumors.
