Bikers ride for a cause

THE Rotary International (RI) District 3780 will host the “Heroes Ride for 100km to Save Lives”. Cyclists led by former SEA Games bronze medalist Jan Paul Morales will bike 100 kilometers from The Villages, Clark to ArcoVia C-5 Pasig on Saturday, October 21. The 100km cyclists will take off from The Village, Clark at 5am and are expected to arrive at the Arcovia C5 Pasig at 10am.

“The cycling event is part of the ‘100 Years of Inspiring People’, in commemoration of Rotary Foundation’s century of achievement,” said District Governor Pastor “Mar” Reyes. Further, he said, “Rotarians in the US, Russia, and other countries have used cycling as a way to raise funds for polio for years.”

Further, he said, “Rotarians in the US, Russia, and other countries have used cycling as a way to raise funds for polio for years.”

The cycling event aims to raise funds for one of Rotary’s signature programs, End Polio Now. Since 1985 Rotary has led the battle against polio, and kept the pressure on as worldwide cases plummeted from 350,000 per year to several hundred.

Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. Along with Rotary’s partners, Rotary has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. Today polio cases now have been reduced to 99.9 percent worldwide, and this cycling event will bring Rotary’s efforts closer to ending the dreaded disease for good.

The “Heroes Ride for 100km to Save Lives” is supported by The Villages & ArcoVia, Eastern Communications, MOB, Monchies Transport Services, Reyes Francisco Tecson Sabato & Associates Law Office, G-TEK Tires, Rotary Clubs (RC) of RI District 3780, MMDA, PNP, Red Cross Quezon City and Clark Development Corporation.
