A few days after the Pride March in the country, a new rainbow lane was unveiled on the upper ground floor of The Deck at Ayala Malls Circuit.

Initiated by artist and advocate Ralph Eya, together with Andrei Venal of Dakila organization, the rainbow lane is aligned with the thrust of Metro Manila Pride’s call of generating a bigger, stronger movement of love and support, and creating safe spaces for the Filipino LGBTQ+ community. 

According to Eya, the effort is actually part of a worldwide movement of painting rainbow lanes on different streets and locations. It is intended to continue and expand the creation of safe spaces for the LGBTQs and for all individuals from all walks of life.

“Let each lane in every city and every community be a safe space not just for the LGBTQs, but for all the Filipinos. When every walk becomes a safe journey, every citizen feels secure about who they are as a person,” said Eya. 

He added, “When every lane becomes a symbol of acceptance, we create belongingness. We all belong in this world where every lane doesn’t just lead us home, because every lane is actually a part of our homes.”
