SURREY- The birthday girl was in for a big surprise.

None less then Pinoy music icons Mike Hanopol and Heber Bartolome serenaded a big fan of OPM and folk music, Lilet Salazar, in her surprise birthday party at her home in Surrey, Canada Friday night.

It was an intimate private concert organized by Salazar’s husband Daniel and their six children and attended by family, close friends, and members of the Filipino-Canadian community, who were also surprised with the grand performance.

The legends of Pinoy rock and folk music took the guests back to 1970s with their hits Nena, Tayo’y Mga Pinoy, Leron Leron Sinta, and Tambay (Bartolome); Laki Sa Layaw , Awiting Pilipino, Upos Na Lang, Nag-Iisa and Baguhin Ang Mundo (Hanopol), with the two telling everyone the history of each song.

“It was great hearing Filipino music again, and amazingly from music icons such as Hanopol and Heber!” said Christian Cunanan, who provided the photography and video coverage assisted by William Ursua and Soulmates Productions.

Bartolome and Hanopol, along with music queen Pilita Corrales, are in Canada for the 118th anniversary of the Philippine Independence Day.
