Switch clocks ahead 1 hour when you go to bed Saturday night

For most of British Columbians, daylight time begins at 3 a.m. Sunday.

That means residents should turn their clocks ahead one hour when they go to bed on Saturday.

That means residents should turn their clocks ahead one hour when they go to bed on Saturday.

The change, which runs until Nov. 3, means people lose one hour of sleep, but gain an extra hour of daylight in the evenings.

Permanent change in future?
However, changes could be coming to how British Columbian's change their clocks each year.

B.C. Premier John Horgan says the province may join Washington, Oregon and California in eliminating seasonal time changes.

Legislators from the three states recently proposed bills that would end annual one-hour time changes from standard time to daylight time, keeping their states permanently on daylight time.

For now, officials say the time switch is a good opportunity to test, clean and check smoke alarms to make sure they are working properly.

The Peace River Regional District and the town of Creston do not observe daylight time in B.C.
