THE Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws kept their semifinal hopes alive by beating the University of the East Lady Warriors in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18 and 27-25, in UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball action yesterday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Currently at sixth place, the Morayta-based volleybelles needed to sweep their remaining games in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines season, beginning yesterday, to remain in contention for one of the two remaining semifinal spots.

BRIEFLY joined at the top of the heap of UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament, the Ateneo Lady Eagles reclaimed solo leadership with a straight-sets win over the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-11, yesterday.

Now at 10-2, the Katipunan-based Lady Eagles broke a two-way tie for number one in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) standings with the defending champions De La Salle Lady Spikers while also bouncing back from a tough five-set loss in their previous game with the National University Lady Bulldogs.

THE National University Lady Bulldogs padded their record to 6-4 in UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball with a win over the struggling University of the East Lady Warriors in four sets, 25-15, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-21, yesterday.

Finding their footing of late following a major slide in the first round of eliminations, the Lady Bulldogs racked up their third victory in four games with the UE win to give their Final Four push a boost.

THE University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses and Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, two teams in the hunt for a Final Four spot in UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball, go battle in a key matchup tomorrow that has playoff implications.

Currently at fourth and sixth place, respectively, UST (6-4) and FEU (5-5) are eyeing a win in their 4 p.m. encounter at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

THE women’s volleyball tournament in UAAP Season 79 has been a campaign of poles for the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons where they are learning a lot both as a team and as individuals.

Started their season with four straight wins, the Diliman-based volleybelles then followed it up with four losses in a row before going back in the win column last Wednesday by beating University of the East (UE) in four sets to pad their record to 5-4 for joint third place with three other teams.

THE University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons boosted their Final Four push in UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball yesterday, beating the hapless Adamson Lady Falcons in straight sets, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-20.

Having lost five of their last six games, the Diliman-based Lady Maroons recognized the need to come out on top of the Lady Falcons and went to work accordingly to notch the win that pushed them above the .500 mark with a 6-5 record while staying in the mix for a playoff spot.

THE impressive run of the Ateneo Lady Eagles in UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament continued yesterday after they soared to their seventh victory in a row with a win over the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses in straight sets, 25-10, 26-24 and 28-26.

Showing better composure in closeouts and another multipronged attack, the Katipunan-based Lady Eagles padded their University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) record to a still-league leading 8-1 with the win while stopping the streak of the Tigresses (5-4) to four wins.
