De La Salle opens its bid for a back-to-back championship Monday in the UAAP Season 82 Poomsae Tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym.
The Green Jins from Taft hopes to do well without Rinna Babanto, who capped her collegiate career by winning the gold in the individual female and mixed pair events to become the first-ever poomsae MVP last year.
A former world champion, Babanto powered De La Salle to two titles in the last three seasons.
The one-day event will start at 1 p.m.
Patrick Perez, who bagged the Rookie of the Year honors after teaming up with Babanto for the mixed pair gold, will banner the Green Jins.
University of Santo Tomas seeks to reclaim the championship two years ago, while University of the Philippines hopes to contend anew for the crown.
The Tiger Jins finished second last year with 1-3-0 medal haul, while the Fighting Maroons captured third spot (1-1-2).
In juniors taekwondo which begins at 8 a.m., UST begins its title-retention campaign with University of the East and National University the biggest threats in the throne.
Action in the men's and women's taekwondo will start on Tuesday at the same Katipunan venue.
