ANTIPOLO — Ginawang sandigan ng Ateneo de Manila University ang pagratsada sa ikatlong yugto para mawarat ang University of the East 91-76 sa UAAP Season 85 Men’s Basketball Tournament, Linggo dito sa  Ynares Sports Center.

 

Nagsilbing top scorer si Dave Ildefonso na may 20 points na sinundan ni  Kai Ballungay, 14 points. May tig-11 puntos sina Forthsky Padrigao at BJ Andrade habang kumalawit ng 20 rebounds si Angelo Kouame.

 

“We’re comfortable with where we’re at,” pahayag ni Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin. “Of course, we’d like to have a higher placing but the two games we lost were competitive games.

 

“Obviously, UP is the standard-setter in the league right now and La Salle - you know that’s a rivalry game. When you look at La Salle’s record now, you might think that’s a disappointing loss for us. While it is disappointing, when you put it in context, anything can happen in a La Salle-Ateneo game," ani pa ng three-time UAAP champion coach.

 

Ungos ng 46-44 sa halftime, nagpasabog ang Blue Eagles  ng 17-0 run na pinatingkad ng basket ni Kouame may 4:58 mark sa third period para akuin ang  63-44 paghiwalay mula sa Red Warriors.

 

Bentahe ang Ateneo sa 83-61 mula sa dakdak ni Ballungay may 3:27 ang nalalabi sa laro. 

 

Epektibo ang pagigiit ng  Blue Eagles sa kanilang 18 second-chance points gayundin ang 50 points sa pinta. Kontra sa Red Warriors na humagupit lang ng dalawa at  26 sa kaparehong estadistika.

 

Umiskor sina Kyle Paranada at Harvey Pagsanjan ng tig-17 points habang si  Luis Villegas ay may  10 points at 13 rebounds.
