Nagampanan ng Ateneo de Manila University ang kumpletong pagbalikwas sa  third quarter para idiskaril ang Adamson University, 66-58, at maibulsa ang ikatlong panalo sa  UAAP Season 85 women's basketball tournament sa  Quadricentennial Pavilion sa Manila.

 

Dapa ng double digits sa umpisa ng  third period, binuka ng Blue Eagles ang agresibong 22-0 ratsada na kasalo ng depensa ni Nigerian student-athlete Sarah Makanjuola. Tinapos ni Sandra Villacruz ang pagratrat sa bisa ng three-point play para isampa ang Ateneo, 48-41, 2:43 nalalabi sa yugto.  

 

Inilagay ni Cris Padilla  ang Adamson na maladikit matapos umiskor ng basket sa loob may  4:57 ang natitira sa payoff period, 55-58, ngunit isang 6-0 run mula sa Ateneo ang birtuwal na sumelyo sa panalo sa kanilang pabor may 2:56 pa sa  ball game.

 

"We really needed this; we are tied with Adamson," sabi ni Ateneo head coach LA Mumar sa kanilang panalo. 

 

Pinuri din ni Mumar ang Blue Eagles para sa kanilang pagkayod kahit maging nangunang si rookie Kacey Dela Rosa ay wala dulot ng hindi magandang pakiramdam. 

 

" Si Kacey wasn't feeling so well, medyo she's under the weather. You know, Kacey is a very big part of our team. Si Sarah did not play (against UP), if you check the record, she did not play the last game, but we kept on telling her, there is going to be a time; and today was the time. She stepped up and the other girls stepped up," sambit ni Mumar.

 

"We are not a one- or two-man team. We are not. And I'm glad the girls stepped up and showed na, 'Hey, we're a team, we're Ateneo. We're not just Joson or Dela Rosa," dagdag ni  Mumar.

 

Nagtapos si Makanjuola ng 16 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, at four blocks. Banat din si Jhazmin Joson na may 16 markers at 10 boards, habang si Junize Calago ay matikas din sa kanyang double-double na 13 points at 12 boards.
