Serrano, Calma, Ibanes show way at close of Draft Combine

ENCHO Serrano, JM Calma, and Nino Ibanes stamped their class on the final day of the PBA Draft Combine, steering the A-1 Converge team to the championship of the mini-tournament that capped the two-day event at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City.

Ibanes topscored for 18 points, Serrano added 15, and Calma with 13 as they led their side to a 67-53 win over B-2 Rain or Shine in the winner-take-all finale.

The team coached by Alaska deputy Joe Silva, won the P50,000 top prize.

Serrano, the former La Salle guard who anchors the Barangay Ginebra 3x3 team, was adjudged the Finals MVP and received an additional P5,000 prize money.

Also making up the team are Shaq Alanes, Enzon Joson, Levi Dela Cruz, Sandy Cenal, Red Cachuela.

Serrano was also named to the Mythical Team along with Shaun Ildefonso, JayR Dela Rosa, Ato Ular, and Kurt Lojera.

Orlan Wamar, who won the three-point shootout side event worth P5,000, led B-2 Rain or Shine with 19 points, while Shaun Ildefonso had 10 while playing before in front of his father Danny Ildefonso, deputy coach of Converge FiberXers.

Mike Buendia called the shots for the runner-up team also composed of Ular, Earvin Lacsamana, JJ Espanola, Brylle Meca, and CJ Cadia. They went home with the P25,000 runner up purse. (RG)
