Despite losing badly, B.J. Penn scored the highest reported salary at UFC Phoenix.

The UFC’s first event of 2017 didn’t exactly break the bank. The promotion’s latest trip to Phoenix had just three fighters with six-figure salaries, and only one other competitor breaking the 50k mark. B.J. Penn, who came out of retirement again just to get badly beaten up by Yair Rodriguez, was the top earner with $150,000, while the man that defeated him made $100,000.

Floyd Mayweather issues another response to Dana White’s $25 million offer to fight Conor McGregor.

Last week, Dana White offered Floyd Mayweather a sum of $25 million to fight Conor McGregor in a boxing match. Floyd Jr. simply laughed off the offer, calling the UFC president a “f----ng comedian.”

On Saturday night, the retired undefeated boxer was at the Badou Jack-James DeGale fight, where he was showing support for the former, who was signed under Mayweather Promotions. Speaking to Fight Hype backstage, Mayweather explained further why the $25 million offer that was presented to him would not be enough.

Yair Rodriguez beat up a legend on Sunday night in the main event of UFC Fight Night 103 in Phoenix. After battering BJ Penn in the first round, Rodriguez got the finish in the second. A front kick and follow-up straight right hand dropped Penn to the canvas.

Rodriguez pounced on the Hall of Famer and pounded on him until referee John McCarthy stepped in to call an end to the fight.

Since he won the UFC welterweight title in July of the previous year, Tyron Woodley has been clamoring for the “big money fights.” In December, he issued a challenge to Nick Diaz for a possible fight at UFC 209.

However, Diaz had apparently turned down Woodley’s challenge. The champion did clarify that the former welterweight title challenger did not do so out of fear. Rather, it was because Diaz knows what he is worth.
