ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn is ready to make his first World Title defense and possibly earn some redemption in the process.

The Thai superstar defends his crown against #1-ranked contender Marat Grigorian at the promotion’s 10-year anniversary show, ONE X, which broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 26 March.

These athletes first met in February 2018, and the Armenian-Belgian striker knocked Superbon out in a shocking 29 seconds to win the 2017 Kunlun Fight World MAX Tournament Championship.

Since that fateful night in China, both competitors have been nearly unstoppable in their respective careers.

Superbon went on an 11-fight winning streak, which includes his victorious promotional debut over #3-ranked Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong in July 2020 and his spectacular head-kick knockout of Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan last October.

That highlight-reel victory over Petrosyan earned him the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title, as well as the 2021 ONE Super Series Knockout Of The Year.

As for Grigorian, he won seven of his next eight fights including a big victory over Sitthichai, a knockout ONE debut of Ivan Kondratev, and a TKO win over Andy “Souwer Power” Souwer in the 2021 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix quarterfinals.

The Armenian-Belgian star, however, was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Grigorian may no longer be in the Grand Prix, but Superbon didn’t want to wait for the prestigious kickboxing tournament to finish before he could make his first defense.

Instead, the Thai superstar wanted to fight immediately, and Grigorian – given his highlight-reel victory over Superbon four years ago and his current #1-ranked contender status in ONE’s featherweight rankings – was awarded the first crack at Superbon’s crown.

In addition to that, Sitthichai faces #4-ranked Chingiz “Chinga” Allazov in the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship Final on the same bill.

Whoever emerges victorious from that matchup earns the next shot at the ONE Featherweight World Champion, whether that’s Superbon or Grigorian. (ONE Championship)
