Some very unfortunate news this afternoon, as longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) flyweight veteran, Katy Collins, has passed away at the age of 32, following complications from last week’s brain aneurysm that left her hospitalized in Branson, Missouri. Collins is survived by her two sons. “The fight is over. You never stopped fighting and we never gave up on you. Just wasn’t in the cards,” coach JT Tilley wrote on Facebook. “I’ve always been so proud of you Kate. We did it. I was honored to be able to live your dream with you. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I will miss you more than the world will ever know.” Collins amassed a 7-5 record in professional cage fighting after racking up nearly a dozen fights on the amateur circuit. “Red Dragon” is perhaps best known for her 2-1 stint under the Bellator MMA banner, before transitioning to Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA), where she last competed in June 2018. A GoFundMe page has been set up here to help with final expenses.
