Tyson Fury is saying that IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has already set aside April 2018 for a fight between the two giant heavyweights next year. The only things that needs to happen before that fight can materialize is for Fury to get his boxing license boxing with the BBBofC and he needs to be cleared with the UK Anti-Doping people.

Fury had a meeting with UKAD on Monday to see if he can get clearance to fight. He’s still waiting for the results of that hearing. UKAD will likely make an announcement soon. It would be bad news for Fury’s career if they rule against him.

Golden Boy Promotions head honcho Oscar De La Hoya is surprised and not happy to learn that the odds-makers have already installed Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) as the betting favorite to defeat his guy Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) for their fight on September 16. The Canelo vs. Golovkin fight, which De La Hoya has named “Bombs Away,” was just announced last Saturday night, and the bettors have the unbeaten Kazakhstan fighter as the favorite.

Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs believes that the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight will be won by Canelo if he can take the shots from Golovkin. Jacobs thinks it comes down to whether Canelo can handle GGG’s power. If he can, then he beats him in their fight on September 16. Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) lost to Golovkin by a close 12 round unanimous decision last March. Jacobs believes he should have won the fight, and he wants a rematch with Golovkin in the worst way.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) in an incredibly poor fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 120-108. Boxing News 24 scored it 120-108 in favor of Canelo. After the fight, middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin came into the ring, and they announced that he’ll be fighting Canelo in September.

British promoter Eddie Hearn says a rematch between his fighter IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko is possible next depending on whether there’s interest in a second fight from the boxing public and whether Wladimir wants the rematch. The way that Wladimir, 41, has been talking lately, the rematch was a dead certainty, but Hearn has not seemed nearly as excited about a second fight between Joshua and Klitschko for some reason.
