Mikey says they can arrange a weight to fight each other at if he wants to test himself before he faces Mayweather. Mikey is willing to fight the 28-year-old McGregor at a catch-weight at either welterweight or junior middleweight.

In today’s combat sport landscape, many things have been said about the prevalence of MMA and various organizations like Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Many think boxing is a dead sport and point out the viewership of MMA events both on free TV and on PPV along with the popularity of their stars. Shannon Briggs won’t be fighting Fres Oquendo for the vacant WBA heavyweight title on June 3. The fight was canceled on Tuesday following the news of the 44-year-old Briggs testing positive for increased level of testosterone during a test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency last month on May 14. Briggs and Oquendo were going to be fighting next month on June 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Manny Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs) has started his official training with his longtime trainer Freddie Roach as of last Sunday to get ready for his July 2 title defense against fellow Top Rank fighter Jeff Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. Roach wants to have the 38-year-pold Pacquiao spar 70 rounds in getting ready for this fight. The Pacquiao-Horn fight will be televised on Top Rank pay-per-view on July 2.

Conor McGregor has signed an agreement for a mega-fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., but now he’s waiting for him to sign his part. McGregor says Mayweather needs to sign the contract or else he’s just a mouth that talks. Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) is still saying that there’s no rush for him to sign for the fight against the 28-year-old McGregor. Mayweather wants to make sure that he’s the “A-side” in the promotion. He’s confident that he will be fighting the UFC star when he gets back inside the ring for his next and perhaps final fight of his career.

A fight between WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia and former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner is reportedly in the works for this summer in July. This would be a fight that would be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing. If the Broner vs. Mikey fight gets made, it would be shown on that network. It would definitely be a nice fight that would bring in ratings. Broner needs a big fight right now because he hasn’t done much with his career as of late.

The unbeaten Mikey Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) would need to move up to 140 from the 135 pound weight class for the Broner fight to happen. Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) last fought at welterweight in February against Adrian Granados.
