Ateneo nipped University of Santo Tomas, 66-52, in a battle of attrition to continue its unbeaten run in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Thirdy Ravena captained the Blue Eagles with 17 points, nine rebounds, and two steals as they remained at the top of the standings at 8-0 and extended their win streak to 18 consecutive games.

SJ Belangel added 11 points on a 3-of-5 clip from downtown, alongside four boards, as Isaac Go nabbed eight points and three rebounds.

First of all, team effort. The coaches did their part. The players did their part, even the bench players did their part. If you noticed, some players that clocked in, didn't clock in minutes before. Lorenzana. It means it is a team play. We don't expect, besides Alex [Diakhite] and Rey [Suerte], we don't expect anyone to step up. You can't predict. Whatever the coach decides, whatever the coach has in place, they're going to play really hard. They struggled in the first quarter, then adjusting to the second and third. So I think, as a whole, the players did wonderfully, especially Alex, who was carrying the players. As a whole, it's a good win for us.
