    National Master (NM) Romeo Alcodia and Glenn Garcia take time out from their busy schedule as they head a talent-laden cast of woodpushers aces playing in the Black and White Chess Tournament 2019 (Open event) on Sunday at the 3rd floor, Activity Area, Pacific Mall in Lucena City.


    The event, a The Honor Society of the Lambda Kappa Phi initiative, is held to promote chess in the grass roots level according to Jan Clifford "Jac" De Dios, president 62nd Grand Monarch of the Lambda Kappa Phi.
    The tournament backed up by Jun and Edith Native Kakanin and Pasalubong will be played in a Swiss System format with the winner taking home P5,000 plus trophy and a certificate, second place P3,000 plus medal and a certificate while third place P2,000 plus medal and a certificate.
    Chairperson of the event is Andre Justine "Niko" Puri  while Alfredo "Merq" Camelon served as Co-chair of the event.
    On Saturday, there will be an Elementary and Secondary division in the same venue.
    The champion will earn P2,000 plus a trophy and a certficate. The second placer will get P1,000 plus a medal and a certficate and third P700 plus a medal and a certficate.
    Registration for the event is P200 for the Open while P150 for the Elementary and Secondary division.
