After a completely lopsided beatdown of Mikey Garcia on Saturday in Arlington, Texas, IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. called out WBA "regular" welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. The 40-year-old Filipino legend climbed into the ring and appeared to reluctantly accept the 29-year-old's challenge.

It's easy to see why Spence would want to fight Pacquiao in his next fight. Pacquiao is an icon who has an entire nation of loyal followers. The payout for that fight is probably the biggest one available for Spence and every other welterweight in the world. Spence is also 11 years younger than Pacquiao, and he's likely going to enjoy a similar size advantage if he can lure the future Hall-of-Famer into the ring.

It's an example of low-risk and high-reward. It's the Floyd-Mayweather formula and everyone is trying to implement it–only they're doing it much sooner in their careers. Fans will watch if Spence matches up with Pacquiao, but few will give the latter a real chance to win.

Even Pacquiao's old promoter Bob Arum doesn't think a fight with Spence is wise for his former cash cow.
