    Zverev advances into 4th round at Australian Open

    German tennis star Alexander Zverev qualified for the fourth round of the 2022 Australian Open with a win over Radu Albot on Friday.

    The Olympic gold medalist Zverev defeated Albot of Moldova 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in Melbourne's John Cain Arena.

    Matteo Berrettini, world no. 7, advanced into the fourth round after beating Carlos Alcaraz from Spain 6-2, 7-6, 4-6, 2-6, 7-6.

    Zverev will play against world number 10 Denis Shapovalov from Canada while Berrettini will face Pablo Carreno Busta in the next round.

    Also, Denis Shapovalov moved to the fourth round after eliminating American player Reilly Opelka 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

    In women's singles, Czech player Barbora Krejcikova beat Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia 2-1 to advance to the next round.

    Greece's Maria Sakkari, Spain's Paula Badosa and Belarus' Victoria Azarenka also qualified for the next round.

    Jessica Pegula from the US will face Sakkari, while Krejcikova will take on Azarenka and American player Madison Keys will play against Badosa in the next round. (AA)
