De la Salle-Zobel clinched two victories over the weekend to march to its third straight win in as many days in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) organized by the Best Center.
Those were routs as the green squad swamped Immaculate Conception Academy, 88-14 on a Saturday, before it went on a Sunday 50-17 stroll past St. Pedro Poveda Academy.
Both wins lifted the squad to 3-0 and on top of the 13-and-Under category of this tournament sponsored by MILO and supported by Rain or Shine, Chris Sports and SKLZ.
St. Paul College-Pasig stayed within striking distance by scuttling Miriam College, 43-38, and bamboozling Immaculate Conception Academy, 46-17, to improve to 2-1 (wins-loss).PR
Immaculate Conception made up for its poor showing in the 13-under when its 18-and-under squad clipped St. Scholastic’s Academy-Marikina, 28-20—its second win in as many days that placed it abreast with Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan on top.
Escuela de Sophia needed two weekend victories to gain that share of the 18-U lead, though—a 55-7 crushing of Raises Academy and a 42-39 squeaker past Notre Dame of Greater Manila.
