Leading convenience store chain 7-Eleven opened its 2,000th store in the Philippines on March 8 at the LV Locsin Building,6752 Makati Avenue, Legazpi Village, Makati.

A concert celebrating the milestone was held on the same day at the BGC Amphitheatre, topbilled by Moonstar88, Gracenote, Imago, Ransom Collective and Bamboo.

The concert’s theme was “Tuloy Po Kayo,” a reference to how 7-Eleven aims to be a kapitbahay whose doors are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The global store chain now has over 60,000 stores in 17 countries, making it the largest convenience retailer in the world.

7-Eleven opened its first store in the Philippines in 1984 and reached 500 stores 7 years ago. The Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), country licensee of 7-Eleven, was able to expand to 1,000 stores in 2014, and now to 2,000 stores in just over 2 years.

7-Eleven went nationwide with its first store in the Visayas in 2012 and Mindanao in 2015. Currently, there are 255 stores in Visayas and 107 stores in Mindanao.

7-Eleven Corporate Senior Vice President and Head of International Ena Williams thanked PSC President and CEO Jose Victor Paterno for a job well done in the Philippines.

“We are glad to be able to bring modern convenience to more Filipinos, and we are thankful to be part of our customers' daily lives. With this milestone, we look forward to serving our customers better every day,” Paterno said.

PSC will open 412 more stores this year and continue to innovate with their products and services such as its CLiQQ Rewards loyalty program, accompanying mobile app, and a platform on Facebook Messenger. All stores will soon have CLiQQ WiFi. PSC has also started developing its e-commerce initiatives to take advantage of the emerging digital retail market.

Part of the 2,000th store celebration is the Justice League Chibi Pouches via CLiQQ Rewards promo. Customers need to purchase Php 100 worth of products to get one Chibi e-stamp. Ten Chibi e-stamps qualifies the customer to get a pouch with several designs including fan favorites Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Justice League. Fifty customers will win Justice League Chibi mini figures, and 10 lucky winners of the Chibi E-raffle will fly to Macau to experience Batman Dark Flight in Studio City Macau.
