A massive rehabilitation of a mining rock dump by Masbate Gold Project in Masbate has made substantial progress, which is mostly planted with cacao and coffee seedlings.

Cocomats and cocologs are used to control erosion and topsoil runoff, according to MGP officials. 

MGP is made up of two companies that operate in Aroroy in Masbate―Filminera Resources Corp. and Phil Gold Processing and Refining Corp. Filminera holds the mining tenements, surface rights, and Environmental Compliance Certificate, and PhilGold holds the mineral processing permit and owns and operates the processing plant.

SM Foundation has renewed an agreement with the Department of Agriculture to train farmers nationwide even as their partnership enters its 11th year, or since the foundation launched its maiden Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers’ Training Program in 2007.

The memorandum signing was held at the office of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, who inked the pact with SM Foundation executive director Debbie Sy and Cristie Angeles, assistant vice president for Livelihood of SM Foundation.

Sta. Ana, Cagayan—The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority has earned P205.976 million from offshore financial technology or fintech firms in the second quarter of the year to raise its total revenues to P340.625 million as of the first half of 2018. 

This Q2 amount already exceeds its full 2017 income by 51.70 percent, Ceza Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Secretary Raul L. Lambino said Wednesday.
