Former De La Salle Lipa, Batangas coach John Renan Lumbera emerged as co-champion in the Temecula Chess Club Open tournament (actual/on the board) held in Temecula, California, USA, over the weekend.
In the final round of the 7 round Swiss system tournament, the seventh seeded Lumbera yielded to second seeded Scott Roods prevented him from winning the title outright, however.
Thus, top seed Vadim Kudryavtsev catches up the Quezon Province native Lumbera on top after beating 12th seeded Dereck Williams in the last round. Kudryavtsev took the title with a superior tie break points over Lumbera. The two woodpushers finished identical 6 points apiece.

Nakisalo sa first plae si dating De La Salle Lipa, Batangas coach John Renan Lumbera sa katatapos na Temecula Chess Club Open tournament (actual/on the board) na ginanap sa Temecula, California, USA, nitong weekend.
Sa final round ng 7 round Swiss system tournament ay nabigo ang seventh seeded Lumbera kontra kay second seeded Scott Roods na naging dahilan para makopo ang title ng outright.
Dahil sa pangyayaring ito ay nagawa ni top seed Vadim Kudryavtsev na maabutan at makasalo sa unahang puwesto si Lumbera na tubong Quezon Province matapos talunin si 12th seeded Dereck Williams sa last round. Nakamit ni Kudryavtsev ang titulo dahil sa superior tie break points kay Lumbera. Ang dalawang woodpushers ay tumapos ng tig 6 points.
Sa isang banda ay si Roods ay napaganda ang total 5 points, kaparehas ng iskor na naitala nina Marius Lucan at Pedro Valdericeda.
