Olongapo City---National Master Efren Bagamasbad of Talisay, Camarines Norte topped the 12th leg National Executive Chess Championship dubbed as 2019 Grandmaster Rosendo Balinas Sr. Chess Cup over the weekend here at the Ma'am Olive's Cafe, East Tapinac, Olongapo City, Zambales.

Bagamasbad, Dentist Alfred Paez of Cabuyao, Laguna and Victor Anas of Bulacan posted 4.5 points but Bagamasbad took the title courtesy of higher-tie break output.

The triumvirate split the combined P22,000 in this event supported by the City Government of Olongapo headed by it's Mayor Atty. Rolen Paulino Jr. and councilor Kaye Ann Legaspi, Zambales Vice Governor Jay Khonghun, Deputy Insurance Commissioner Atty. Randy Escolango, Gordon College and RP Energy in coordination with Philippine Executive Chess Association President Dr. Jenny Mayor and engineer Antonio "Tony" Carreon Balinas.

Dandel Fernandez of Maynilad and Leonardo Navarro, Comelec executive from Cabanatuan City placed fourth and fifth with 4.0 points each followed by journeyman Andrew Sorima and Dr. Johnny Corrales with 3.5 points apiece.

Rounding up the top 10 finishers were Reden Baulita, Glenn Hullana Garcia and Winnie Felix with 3.0 points each.
No Less than NCFP Director NM (Atty.) Edmundo Legaspi , also PECA Vice President for Luzon , Mr. Patrick Tamano Roxas, chief organizer of the 12th leg from Olongapo City and Philippine Executive Chess Association president Dr. Jenny Mayor led the closing rites.-Marlon Bernardino-
