National Master John Marvin Miciano, 17 years Old, a Senior high School Student of Far Eastern University Diliman Who Hails from Davao City and presently the 2017 Philippine National Junior Champion is making an impressive performance in Penang International Open chess competition. He has a score of 4 points and currently rank number 7th out of 5 rounds. This EVENT has attracted 7 Grandmasters , 17 International Masters and 11 FIDE Masters with 134 total number of participants from 16 countries, such as from China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Switzerland, Japan , Germany, England, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Taipe, Sri Lanka & Philippines. 

He Defeated his fellow compatriot 2017 Battle of the Grandmaster Champion International Master Haridas Pascua in round 2. It was a sweet revenge for Miciano when he lost to Pascua during the 2017 BOGM in virtual winning position. 

He drew his games in round 3&4 against high Rated Opponents from India and Indonesia respectively. And in round 5, He bested FIDE Master Deni Sonjaya from Indonesia. 

NM Miciano’s main goal is to get his International Master Norm And achieve his FIDE Master title in this Tournament, 

His participation is being supported by NCFP President Cong. Prospero Pichay Jr, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez and Far Eastern University.
