Nakatutok si 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. (Elo rapid 2426) sa panibagong titulo.


Si Antonio, 59 year-old ay mangunguna sa six-player cast sa two-day Fide rated rapid over the board chess tournament scheduled Peb. 28 at Mar. 1, 2022 na gaganapin sa Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence (PACE) headquarters sa Project 6, Quezon City.
“It is always an honor to be given a chance to play in this tough FIDE rated rapid over the board chess tournament," sabi ni Antonio.
Makakatagisan ng isipan ng Quezon City resident chesser Antonio ay sina GM Darwin Laylo (Elo rapid 2337), WGM Janelle Mae Frayna (Elo rapid 2104), IM Paulo Bersamina (Elo rapid 2286), IM Ricardo de Guzman (Elo rapid 2261) at IM Angelo Young (Elo rapid 2204).
Inorganisa at sinuportahan ng Bayanihan Chess Club sa gabay nina co-founding chairman Dr. Joe Balinas, Engr. Antonio Balinas at ng GM Balinas Family sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence (PACE) at ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) isinagawa kasabay ng 109 Birthday niRosendo Padilla Balinas Sr.
Si Rosendo Sr. ay ama nina Dr. Joe, Engr. Antonio at GM / Atty. Rosendo Balinas Jr.
May total pot prize P27,000 kung saan ay P10,000 ang naghihintay sa magkakampeon habang ang second placer ay magbubulsa ng P5,000 kung saan ang third hanggang sixth ay tatangap ng tig P3,000.
Ang Tournament Director ay si Bayanihan Chess Club president NM Marlon Bernardino habang ang Chief Arbiter ay si IA Reden Cruz.-Marlon Bernardino-
