MANILA---Fide Master Alekhine Nouri dominated the Artillery Foundation of the Philippines, Inc (AFPI) Year End Blitz Tournament virtually held at Tornelo Platform Wednesday Evening, December 29, 2021.
Nouri performed with 8 points out of the possible ninth, in the 80 man-field in a one-day grueling, mental-skirmish using the time control of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment.
Nouri's lone 5th round lost was delivered by 8-time Illinois USA Champion International Master Angelo Abundo Young.
Sixteen-year old Nouri, who hails from Escalante City, Negros Occidental, took home the P3,000 cash from Chairman Arthur I. Tabaquero and who is also , the current under secretary for Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs (PAMA) together with it's President BGEN Romeo J. Fajardo AFP (Ret).

Thank you to all of you even during the pandemic you’re still here supporting my chess career," said Nouri, playing under the guidance of Senator Manny Pacquiao, who is also fresh from winning the Boys Division of the Philippine National Juniors Chess Championship Grand Finals (Over The Board) held at the PACE Building in Quezon City last December 7, 2021.
International Master Michael Concio Jr. of Dasmarinas City, Cavite settled for second place with 7.5 points to receive P2,000.
Sharing the third to fifth places with 7.0 points each are Young, National Master Henry Roger Lopez of Panabo City, Davao del Norte and Rhenz Rheann E. Auza of Butuan City who got P1,000, P700 and P500, respectively.
National Master Gerardo Cabellon of Bocaue, Bulacan, International Master John Marvin Miciano of Davao City and United Arab Emirates based Dandel Fernandez landed in the sixth spot with 6.5 points each while Keith Adriane I. Ilar of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental and Freddie Talaboc of Quezon City finished ninth and tenth places with 6 points apiece. All of them earn P300.
The Top Junior Award was won by 12-year-old National Master Ivan Travis Cu, a Grade 7 pupil of Xavier School in San Juan City
