MANILA---– Chess Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. dominated the chess wizards of District IV Quezon City in a 15-board chess simultaneous game at the Barangay Hall, Barangay Kamuning in Quezon City last Saturday.
Antonio won 14 of the 15 matches.


The Quezon City chess team came from District IV. They fought Antonio for 2 hours before bowing to 13-time Philippine Open Champion.
Roger Abisan of Barangay Tatalon handed Antonio his lone draw.
Atty. Rudy Rivera said that chess was a game fit for all woodpushers.
"Chess is a mind game which does not entail too much cost to stage," he said. "Let this be the start of succeeding chess competitions in the Fourth District of Quezon City."
Antonio conducted the chess simultaneous game to propogate chess in the grass roots level organized by Bayanihan Chess Club President National Master Marlon Bernardino in close cooperation with coun. Janet "Babes" Malaya, Barangay Kamuning Chairman Armida "Armie" Castel, Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety head Ret. Gen. Elmo San Diego, Atty. Nolan V.
