Manila---Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Rowelyn Joy "Kajoy" Acedo beat Euro Gaming Consultant Kim "The Gambling Mathematician" Zafra in the race-to-7 Online Rapid Chess Finals, 7.5-1.5, earning for her the P25,000 purse on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the lichess.org.


The match was lasted 5 and half hours according to Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Alfredo "Fred" Paez in this 1-day event, organized by Bayanihan Chess Club and supported by Palawan Queen's Gambit, MedPublika PCR Testing Machines, in coordination with United Queens Chess Club, Deorico De Paz youtube channel, Cabuyao City Chess Club and Jolina Icao youtube channel.


Earlier, Acedo, the top lady player of Negros Kingsmen amassed a total of 13 points after 16 matches in the 17-player field All Women's Invitational Elimination Round last February 7, 2021 to advance to the finals last Sunday.


It shall be recalled that Davao City pride Acedo spearheaded De La Salle University (DLSU) to capture the women's chess team gold medal on top and bagging her the board 3 gold in the 2015-2016 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 78 chess competition.-Marlon Bernardino-
