KISSIMMEE, Fla. (April 24, 2021) — Mexico versus Puerto Rico. The next chapter will be written tonight at a sold-out Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida, as Mexico's Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete (33-1, 28 KOs) will make the first defense of his WBO featherweight world title against Puerto Rico's Christopher "Pitufo" Diaz (26-2, 16 KOs).
In the eight-round co-feature, Edgar "The Chosen One" Berlanga (16-0, 16 KOs), the super middleweight destroyer with 16 first-round knockouts to start his career, will fight Demond Nicholson (23-3-1, 20 KOs).
Navarrete-Diaz and Berlanga-Nicholson will air live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+) at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Undercard action will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and includes junior welterweight contender Josue "The Prodigy" Vargas against Willie Shaw, Joseph "Blessed Hands" Adorno versus Jamaine Ortiz in an eight-round battle of unbeaten lightweights, and top Puerto Rican prospects Xander Zayas, Jaycob Gomez, Jeremy Adorno and Orlando Gonzalez in separate bouts. photo credit - Mikey Williams
