Atlanta—Tiger Woods scored his first victory in more than five years on Sunday, completing a two-shot win at the Tour Championship to crown a fairy tale comeback after a near two-year absence.

The 42-year-old, 14-time major winner carded a one-over-par 71 at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Course to claim the 80th PGA Tour title of his glittering career.

DAVAO CITY – Del Monte, Tagaytay Highlands and Bacolod captured division titles Saturday at the close of the 13th Philippine Airlines Interclub golf team championships at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Del Monte leaned on Martina Minoza’s 52 points and Rhea Langgamin’s 51 to win the Founders division with 554 points. Kiara Therese Montebon was the third scorer with 45 points.

Davao City—Asian Games champion Yuka Saso powered Pradera Verde to its second straight Philippine Airlines Ladies Interclub team championship Saturday, scoring a tournament-best 59 points at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club. 

The 17-year-old Fil-Japanese eagled the par-5, 12th hole and made four birdies against a lone bogey to anchor Pradera Verde’s final day charge that overhauled Manila Southwoods’ three-point lead.

Taiwan—Princess Superal bucked howling winds that blew from all over all day yesterday with a gutsy backside charge, shooting a two-under 70 and trailing local amateur Chia Yen Wu by three at the start of the Party Golfers Ladies Open at the National Golf Country Club in Miaoli County here.

Working on 2- to 3-club adjustments in tough conditions, Superal overcame a bogey start with a tap-in birdie on the par-5 third then came through with superb iron play at the back to sink three birdies, including another “gimme” on the closing hole that negated her other missed green miscue on No. 15.
