MANILA - The PVF (Philippine Volleyball Federation) is not affected by the announced cuts in financial assistance provided by the PSC (Philippine Sports Commission). The PVF is the officially recognized national federation from the Philippines in the FIVB and the AVC.
The Philippine government agency has recently announced the termination of sports coordinators, foreign coaches, sports consultants, a 50% cut on national athletes' allowances and, of course, assistance to NSAs' sports programs because of the world pandemic.
The PVF is not a bit affected because IT HAS NEVER RECEIVED ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE PSC FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS AND BEYOND.
The PVF boasts of its long running and highly successful grassroots development program in volleyball having distributed volleyball equipment to more than one thousand DepEd public schools to date. It has reached the remotest mountain areas and far flung islands in the vast archipelago. The PVF has conducted under 18 regional tournaments in major cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao without entry fees and provided complimentary lunch and refreshments. Majority of its beneficiaries are marginalized public school children including children of Indigenous People and tribal minorities.
The PVF has conducted numerous referees and coaches training courses leading to issuance of licenses. The courses are done in the different regions upgrading officiating and coaching even in the countryside.
The PVF has been very successful in its noble intentions without having to depend on government support. Its leadership has its own resources and an affluent circle of friends and supporters more than willing to get involved in a worthwhile advocacy.
The PVF has never been after financial gain! PVF proudly finds itself in a class way above the rest. PRESS RELEASE
