THE Philippine women’s volleyball team tries to fashion out an upset when it battles powerhouse China in their quarterfinal match at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia today.

Set for 8 p.m. (Manila time) at the Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Indoor, the Filipinas try to hold their own against the Chinese spikers, the Olympic champions, and book a place in the semifinals of the event in Jakarta.

University of Santo Tomas tries to formalize its stint in the semifinal round as it shoots for a fifth straight victory against a resurgent St. Benilde side today (Saturday) in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Tigresses swept their first three matches in smashing fashion then disposed off the UP Lady Maroons in four to zero in on the first slot in the Final Four of the mid-season conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.

TELUS International Philippines’ (TIP) women’s volleyball team continued its dominant run at the 2018 BPO Olympics after its best-of-five-win against Acquire on Sunday at the Meralco Gym to bring its record to 3-0.

After being down early on, TIP made adjustments to limit errors and bounce back to clinch tightly contested sets against Acquire with the scoring going 26-24; 25-23; 22-25; 19-25; 14-16.

SISI Rondina and Dzi Gervacio became the last Filipina pair standing in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Manila Open following a 21-17, 21-17 conquest of Canada's Caleigh Cruickshank and Megan Nagy in the round-of-12 yesterday at the Sands SM By The Bay.

With modest expectations of playing well against international, battle-tested sand court veterans, Gervacio was satisfied things went with her maiden partnership with Rondina in the one-star tournament.
