The Bloody Elbow staff has submitted its predictions for UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre, and because this is a major show, we’ve divided these posts to main card and preliminary card. This column focuses on the prelims, which is now sans Ion Cutelaba vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk. The majority of us are picking Joe Duffy to top James Vick, whereas there’s only a slight edge in Ovince Saint Preux’s favor against Corey Anderson.
Michael Bisping said he will probably defend his UFC middleweight title against interim champ Robert Whittaker should he get past Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 this Saturday.

Take a look at the current state of UFC 218, which is slated for December 2nd in Detroit, Michigan.
It’s been seven years since the UFC staged an event in Michigan. UFC 123 took place at The Palace of Auburn Hills on November 20th, 2010, with Quinton Jackson (somewhat controversially) beating Lyoto Machida by split decision in the main event. B.J. Penn knocked out Matt Hughes in their trilogy bout, and it’s Penn’s most recent win to date.
Derrick Lewis made a great comeback to Travis Browne and Francis Ngannou on social media.
Possibly retired UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis was called out by Travis Browne and Francis Ngannou after his fourth-round TKO stoppage loss to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 110 on Saturday.
UFC sophomore Alex Volkanovski describes how he went from a 210lb rugby player to an MMA featherweight.
At last year’s UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs. Brunson, Alex Volkanovski won his UFC debut, advancing his record to an impressive 14-1. The victory, in which he subdued Yusuke Kasuya with punches, was the 28-year-old’s sixth stoppage win in row.
“It’s always an unreal feeling to get the win, but to get it in the UFC - especially on my debut - it was amazing,” said Volkanovski to Bloody Elbow. “It was a long time coming and now I just want to get that feeling a lot more, so I can’t wait to get in there and get my hand raised again.”
Darren Till likes the idea of a striking battle against Stephen Thompson.
Darren Till might have called out ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry after his massive win over Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118, but it looks looks as though the 24-year-old has had a change of heart.
On the strength of two Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz money fights, as well as Brock Lesnar’s controversial comeback at UFC 200, Dana White and the new WME-IMG ownership group are within striking distance of the company’s best-selling pay-per-view year to date.
Cody Garbrandt wants to fight T.J. Dillashaw on the upcoming UFC 217 card at Madison Square Garden.
It may almost be a full year until UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is fit to return to the Octagon.
After outclassing Dominick Cruz to win the 135-pound belt last year, ‘No Love’ was expected to take on former teammate turned arch rival T.J. Dillashaw in July, but things fell through due to injury.
UFC champion Conor McGregor is never hesitant to discuss money. Today, however, he put a price tag on his financial gains from a busy 2016 fight campaign.
The year has already been very good to McGregor (20-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC). It could get even better, though, if he earns a victory over Eddie Alvarez (28-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in the UFC 205 main event, which takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York, with the main card on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is familiar with accolades. He’s a former WEC champion, a two-time UFC titleholder, the top-ranked fighter in his division, and can be found near the top of pound-for-pound lists. What Cruz wants now, though, is big fights and the significant paydays that go along with them.

Max Holloway is the new king of the UFC featherweight division, and the newly-crowned champion wants to be treated and paid as a king before signing a new contract and defending his title.
Number three-ranked featherweight Max Holloway will be making his way to the Philippines for a three-day visit on September 15 to 18.

Check out the fight card and bout order for UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Machida on Saturday, October 28th in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The UFC’s final Brazilian event of 2017 is an absolutely terrific Fight Night card in Sao Paulo. In the main event, middleweight contender Derek Brunson welcomes Lyoto Machida back to the Octagon, as Machida returns from an 18-month USADA suspension. Recent welterweight title challenger Demian Maia will look to halt Colby Covington’s progress up the rankings, in an intriguing co-main event.
Check out the fight card and bout order for UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Lee, which goes down on Sunday, June 25th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Not only will we have Bellator NYC/Bellator 180 on Saturday, there’s a special Sunday edition of UFC Fight Night! The main event features lightweights Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee in an important matchup between two rising contenders. Oh yeah, and there’s plenty of heat behind this one. Oklahoma’s own Johny Hendricks takes on Tim Boetsch in the co-main event, as Hendricks seeks a 2-0 record at 185 lbs. Sad as it is to say, B.J. Penn is not only still fighting, but he’s been reduced to main card opener against Dennis Siver.
The Bloody Elbow staff has made its predictions for UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Lee in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We’re pretty much split on picking a winner between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee, but less so with Johny Hendricks against Tim Boetsch. We still have four picking Boetsch, with two going with Tim after finding out about Hendricks’ latest weight miss. Most of us are picking Dennis Siver to beat B.J. Penn, and that’s a real sentence being typed in 2017.
Stockholm gets rowdy with a fine night of European action.
For a card that a lot of fans (and media) didn’t have very high expectations for, this was actually a fine Fight Night card with some very good performances. It was also helped by the fact that it was a Sunday daytime card for US viewers, which takes the sting out of watching a longer broadcast.
