Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo is reportedly headed to Fortaleza against fellow countryman Renato Moicano.

It wasn’t Cub Swanson or Michael Johnson, but it seems Jose Aldo got his wish after all.

After recently stating that he wanted to fight early in 2019 so that he could finish the last three fights of his contract, MMAjunkie reported that the former UFC featherweight champion scored a spot on the card he set his sights on: UFC Fight Night 144, in Fortaleza, Brazil.

According to Junkie’s report, Aldo will take on contender Renato Moicano, who most recently stepped in as the official replacement for UFC 231’s main event had Max Holloway or Brian Ortega gotten injured prior to the bout.

In his last outing, Jose Aldo (27-4) scored a first-round TKO victory over Jeremy Stephens in July. Before that, Aldo suffered back-to-back TKO losses to champion Max Holloway, in June and December 2017.

Renato Moicano (13-1-1) will look to pick up his third straight win, having already defeated the likes of Cub Swanson and Calvin Kattar in his last couple of bouts. His sole loss came in July 2017, when the 29-year-old was submitted by Brian Ortega.

UFC Fight Night: Fortaleza is scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd. The card will stream live on ESPN+ and will be headlined by a rematch between bantamweight contenders Marlon Moraes and Raphael Assuncao.
