Donald Cerrone is riding the high of his record-breaking win over Mike Perry at UFC Fight Night 139, and ‘Cowboy’ has his sights set on Conor McGregor.

After submitting ‘Platinum’ with a slick armbar in the first round of the co-main event, Cerrone teased of an exciting lightweight matchup but didn’t reveal his potential opponent.

On Tuesday, however, the fan favorite hinted that the UFC could be looking to pair him up against ‘The Notorious.’

Cerrone posted on Instagram that he is ‘waiting on’ McGregor to accept the fight.

McGregor, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, is looking to bounce back from his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 and reclaim the lightweight title. The Irishman stated that he doesn’t mind if there’s no immediate rematch with Khabib, claiming that he is willing to face whoever is ‘next in line.’

Fighter, podcast host and analyst Chael Sonnen believes ‘there is something to a Donald Cerrone-Conor McGregor fight that makes sense’, highlighting their entertaining back-and-forth at theUFC’s Go Big press conference back in 2015.

The Irish Mirror also reported on Monday that McGregor ‘may be on the verge’ of signing his next fight, but there’s no word from the Irishman himself.
