Chris Weidman and Daniel Cormier have a date to play Madden before UFC 230 kicks off, and the heavyweight/light heavyweight champ just raised the stakes of the game.

It looks like Chris Weidman has the chance to make some serious money this week. Not just because he’s fighting Jacare Souza on Saturday, in the co-main event of UFC 230, but he’s got another battle set for this Friday, right after the weigh ins.

Captured on camera, by the assembled media following their open workouts, Daniel Cormier and Chris Weidman got into a friendly disagreement over scheduling and an opportunity to test each man’s gaming prowess. What had been set as a Madden showdown on Thursday ended up rescheduled for Friday, after weigh-ins. That’s when DC has promised to show up at Chris Weidman’s door with a whole bunch of water, and a copy of the long running EA sports NFL videogame.

And they won’t just be playing for pride. After questioning Weidman’s potential skill, Cormier walked out of the room, but not before laying down an offer of $1,000 for every touchdown that the former middleweight champion can score on him when they face off.

“Hey, look, this is what happens when you knock out Anderson Silva,” Cormier joked, handing Weidman money for a lost bet. “I won by decision, so I don’t have that money.

“Listen, here’s the deal,” he added, addressing the assembled media in explanation of why he was cancelling their game, “there are beautiful women in the world: Jennifer Lopez – who is just a dream to every man. If I had to go meet her right now, I couldn’t make it. And I want Weidman and Madden, more than I want to kiss Jennifer Lopez. I couldn’t make it, I just can’t make it. I wan’t to beat him so bad.”

“This guy, let me tell you something... Anybody that oversells like you can’t be very good.”

“Tomorrow,” Cormier said, after Weidman turned him down for a game later in the afternoon, “after weigh-ins. You’ll be drinking all day. I’ll come to your room. I promise I’ll have water, gallons and jugs waiting for you.”

“Hey, lets raise the ante. Every touchdown you score? $1000. I’m shutting this dude out, man! I’m the king of Madden! I run this Madden UFC shit!”

Cormier is set to face Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 230 on Saturday, November 3rd at Madison Square Garden. Weidman will take on Jacare Souza in the co-main event. But, before either man steps in the cage, they’ll put all their skill and mental acumen to the test, against one another.
