UFC president Dana White compared Conor McGregor to two of the biggest boxers in history.

Now that Conor McGregor is clear of legal trouble and booked to fight in the UFC again, Dana White is back to promoting him as the greatest thing since sliced bread. McGregor will take on Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title at UFC 229 and to promote the fight, White guested on a Fox News feature to talk up his cash cow.

In doing so, he compared him to two of the greatest boxers of all time:

“He’s my Ali. He’s my Tyson. He burst onto the scene and I knew the minute I sat down and had dinner with him that this kid was going to be a star. I didn’t know if he’d be able to fight and I didn’t know if he’d be able to win a title, but I knew he was going to be a star.”

While it sounds ridiculous, it’s not the first time that UFC brass has made these kinds of references. Back when McGregor beat Dennis Siver in 2015, then-CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said Conor was like “The Irish Muhammad Ali in a way”.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov meet in the main event of UFC 229 on October 6th in Las Vegas.
