Next step, get them inside the Octagon.

The world tuned in to see France and Croatia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. In an absolutely thrilling contest, France defeated the surprise first-time finalists 4-2, giving them their second World Cup triumph in their history.

Among those in attendance were Russian president Vladimir Putin, French president Emmanuel Macron, Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, as well as retired sprinting legend Usain Bolt, entertainment star Will Smith (who performed at the closing ceremonies)... and also two UFC stars.

Check out these photos of Conor McGregor (with Artem Lobov in the background), plus current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who called this moment a “childhood dream come true.”

There’s no indication that the two (or three, if you count Lobov) actually met face-to-face, as we know what happened the last time.

The big demand from many fight fans is to see McGregor and Khabib squaring off inside the Octagon, but according to Dana White, talks with McGregor are on hold as he sorts out his legal problems after his UFC 223 bus attack. His next court date is set for July 26th in New York.

Oh yes, and in case you’re wondering, Khabib backed France to win on Sunday, and both he and McGregor wished French midfield maestro Paul Pogba all the best. Those well wishes paid off, as Pogba scored in the 2nd half to give France a 3-1 lead.

Update: Well! Here’s Conor posing with Putin.
