The UFC 226 card taking place on July 7th has taken it’s first major blow, as Yancy Medeiros is out of his welterweight fight with Mike Perry.

MMAjunkie revealed today that Medeiros pulled out of the fight, whilst ESPN’s Ariel Helwanirevealed it was due to a broken rib. The Hawaiian's fight with Perry was supposed to take place on the FS1 prelims of UFC 226. It is understood that the UFC will now seek a replacement for Medeiros.

According to Helwani, UFC lightweight Paul Felder is open to taking the fight with Perry. Felder was supposed to fight James Vick at UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Ivanov on July 14th, but Vick was pulled from the fight to replace the injured Al Iaquinta in his fight with Justin Gaethje at UFC Lincoln.

UFC 226 will take place next weekend, July 7th, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by superfight between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, whilst in the co-main event current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will attempt to defend his belt against Brian Ortega.
