Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is expecting an immediate title shot after her upcoming fight against Tecia Torres.

Even after a first-round knockout loss to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217, former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was granted an immediate title shot which took place at UFC 223. Once again, she failed to recapture the title she previously held, losing to “Thug Rose” via unanimous decision and marking her second consecutive loss.

Jedrzejczyk is now slated to face number five-ranked Tecia Torres at the UFC’s upcoming FOX card this July. And if she gets back on the winning track, the multiple-time Muay Thai gold medalist is expecting another immediate title shot.

“I believe I am going to get title shot after this fight,” Jedrzejczyk said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour (transcript via MMA Mania). “But I said I could have a lot of fights before I get title shot, I went through this in 2014 and 2015. I want this belt and I will get it back, mark my words.”

Jedrzejczyk currently has her sights set solely on Torres, whom she has a generous amount of respect for as a fighter.

“I am very happy to fight Tecia,” Jedrzejczyk said. “The good thing is she fought Jessica Andrade in her last fight, she lost that fight. Jessica Andrade is going to be the challenger for Rose Namajunas. So I am very happy to face Tecia Torres and get the title shot after this fight.

“That’s the plan. I know more than you guys and I am very happy to have this fight,” she added. “Tecia Torres is a real warrior so I am very happy to face her. She was training at American Top Team for a long time, she left a year ago. I think it’s good and it will be a very interesting fight.”

UFC on FOX 30 is slated to take place on July 28th in Calgary, Canada. Another confirmed fight that will be part of the card is the featherweight matchup between Jeremy Stephens and former champion Jose Aldo.
