Cris Cyborg: If Ronda Rousey wants to fight, we can make it at WWE

Ronda Rousey’s camp finally broke silence after nine months when coach Edmond Taverdyan brought up the idea of a possible fight with Cris Cyborg. It is a long overdue match-up that has been talked about since Rousey’s days as the dominant women’s bantamweight champion just four years ago.

Rousey is a far cry from that fighter that finished her opponents within 30 seconds. And now that the tables have turned, and Cyborg finally has a UFC title in her possession, she is no longer interested in what was once the most-buzzed fight in women’s MMA.

“If Ronda wants to come back for a fight, I believe it’s better for her to fight Miesha Tate,” Cyborg told MMA Fighting. “I’m in another stage of my career. I wanted to fight Ronda when she was psychologically well and confident.”

But Cyborg’s disinterest towards a Rousey fight in MMA does not mean she is closing her doors on facing her once bitter rival.

“Now, if she wants to make a good fight for the fans, we can make it at WWE. It would fit perfectly [for her] to go to Hollywood, and for me would be another challenge in my career,” Cyborg said.

“And something brilliant, her coach would fit perfectly in her corner in WWE, he’s nothing but a joke.”

Cyborg is currently training in Thailand, as she aims to make her first title defense happen against Holly Holm at UFC 219 on December 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. That fight has not been confirmed by the UFC, but Cyborg has hinted on Twitter that major news is coming with regards to her next bout.
